Meet the Team: Ellie Eastwood

Welcome, one and all, to another Meet the Team. This time, we're getting to know the woman that keeps everything running smoothly in the brightfive office, Ellie!

Let’s start with a little about you. Introduce yourself and your role here at brightfive.

I’m Ellie, I’ve worked at Brightfive for 6 years now and can honestly say it’s the best job I've ever had! I started as an Accounts Administrator and have seen my role at brightfive evolve over the past 6 years to become more of a Finance & Office Manager role. I work part time which allows me to plenty of time to run (I’m currently training for my first ever marathon) and to look after my family and crazy dog.

Tell us about some of the projects you’ve you been working on recently.

So this is the part that lots of you will find boring but I actually enjoy because I love to be organised and prepared… In my role, I have a lot of tasks that need completing either weekly, monthly or annually as well as the ad-hoc administrative support that I provide to both the events and web teams. I’m currently in the middle of my annual review of our office and staff policies (Data Protection, Health and Safety and Fire etc). It’s really important to make sure our policies and procedures reflect any legislative changes that occur. Staff welfare is of paramount importance at brightfive and our policies need to reflect this.

How did you get started in your career?

I worked as a mortgage advisor for many years and, after I was made redundant, I fancied a complete change in career -  away from selling. Luckily for me, Brightfive were looking for someone to join the team as a part time Accounts Administrator. The rest is history, as they say!

When you’re not hard at work, how do you like to unwind?

Running! I am very passionate about Parkrun, which my family and I attend most Saturday mornings in York. I’m very fortunate that my husband and children love running too. We all belong to a local running club, where we can be found most Wednesday nights. I also do yoga twice a week and enjoy walking our family dog, Woody. I love spending time with friends and family and am often planning holidays and weekends away. Ooh and I’m very partial to cheese and a glass (or two) of prosecco!

In another life, what job could you see yourself doing?

I get a real buzz from seeing people achieve their running and fitness goals, so I think I would work in the fitness industry. I occasionally volunteer to pace at Parkrun and there’s nothing quite like the feeling you get from helping someone achieve a new PB.

Finally, what’s your favourite thing about working at brightfive?

Most definitely the people. I know it sounds like a cliche, but we all get on so well and enjoy each other's company whether at work or socially. I can’t think of a nicer place to work.
