Fun and Games in Whitby

14 AUG
Whitby Whalebones Katie and Ellie

As a company we try and get out as a group and do something fun every couple of months. On Wednesday morning we met early at the office, jumped into two cars and headed to our favourite Yorkshire seaside town - Whitby!

Treasure Hunt

Ever the organised one, Ellie had done a little research and downloaded a vampire themed treasure hunt that was now revealed to us. With flashbacks to school trips this was met with initial eye rolling, but once we'd got going and had begun to unravel cryptic numerical clues based on plaques, house numbers and local curiosities we had to admit it was a lot of fun.

It also took us off the beaten track through quiet courtyards and alleyways - as well as making sure we ticked off all the tourist highlights.

We stopped for a ginger beer at the wonderfully quirky Sherlock's Coffee House and then rather inevitably wound up at Magpie's Cafe - the finest purveyor of fish and chips in town.

After a bit of competitive dancing and 2p nudging in the arcades our treasure hunt took us over the swing bridge and up the 199 steps to the abbey. The heavens opened and we ducked into a cafe for a very nice icecream and coffee to round off the day.

We all had a fantastic time and are very much looking forward to our next day out!
