Brightfive return to York Little Festival of Live Music for York Mind

brightfive volunteers

On Friday 30th September, the brightfive team took part in what has now surely become an annual tradition (hey, we’ve done it twice - it’s a tradition).

Simon, Jamie and I (later to be joined by honorary brightfiver Ian) donned our blue t-shirts, took our buckets in hand, and began our shift at York Little Festival of Live Music.

The annual event forms part of York Food & Drink Festival, which takes over the city centre for the final two weeks of September. York Little Festival 2016 saw over 24 hours of free programming over 8 nights, featuring some fantastic home-grown musical talent. All money raised by the festival was donated to our chosen charity, York Mind.

We’re very proud to have collected £332.09 in our York Mind buckets. The Festival exceeded its £2000 target raising a total of £2162.66 for mental health services in York. Massive congratulations are in order for Ellen, Holly and all the hardworking organisers from York Little Festival and York Mind. Also to the musicians, bar staff and fellow volunteers who generously gave their time and talents to this great cause.

Feeling very pleased with ourselves (did you know, charity work makes you happy?) we indulged in a congratulatory drink- or two- after the festival. Jamie decided everyone would like a shot of Taboo (Taboo, of all the drinks in this wide world, I ask you!). You can see how thrilled we were by this.

Sore heads on Saturday aside, we were very happy to be part of this year’s festival again and we’re looking forward to our next York Mind outing.
