2015 Charity Challenges15 JUN
2015 appears to be the year in which the brightfive team exhaust, bruise and potentially embarrass themselves, all in the name of charity.
It all kicked* off in February when our own Simon Frost submitted himself to a full day of intensive karate training. Raising funds for the JKS (Japan Karate Shotorenmei) England Squad, Simon, along with three other brave/foolhardy volunteers from Selby Shotokan Karate Club, travelled to the Killamarsh Sports Centre, Sheffield. There they were subjected to an epic 12 hour training session with with England Squad Coach, Matt Price Sensei 6th Dan . As well as some very achey legs, the team earned over £900 in sponsorship to ensure The England team can continue to train, compete (and win!) on the world stage. Thank you to all our colleagues, clients and friends who sponsored Simon and the rest of the team.
In July, Katie and I will also be putting our physical prowess to the test in the name of charity. On Saturday 4th, we will be taking part in the Race For Life’s ‘Pretty Muddy’ event. This 5k all-female muddy obstacle course will raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK. If you’d like to sponsor us (we promise what are bound to be embarrassing photos in exchange) you can donate to our team’s JustGiving page - www.justgiving.com/dangerous-ladies **
Finally, not to be outdone, Johnny will be running the Yorkshire Marathon in October. This will be his first marathon attempt, so he’s training hard (getting to the gym at 6.30am for a pre-work session - commitment!). He is collecting sponsorship on behalf of MacMillan Cancer Support.
Katie, Johnny and I are looking forward to our respective races and will keep you updated on how we do.
